What I’m Reading: July 7-13, 2025

Posted on July 10, 2025July 10, 2025 by victoria

Here are some links to stuff I’m reading this week.

First, I’ll start off with my recent rant on my Other Blog about the National Women’s Soccer League.

A must-read from Shea Butter FC: “What to the Slave is the Fourth of July?” As someone with Mexican ancestry, these last nine months have been incredibly difficult to process. Yet, I am reminded that for my Black friends, the America that I thought I knew never existed for them in the first place. (And yes, I knew the America that I was taught about in grade school was largely a sham.)

Paleontologists have found the fossilized remains of the oldest pterosaur (209 million years old!) in the Petrified Forest. She’s called the Ash-Winged Dawn Goddess and she is every bit as glorious as the name suggests!

I subscribed to Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Pump Club email list when it first came out. There are always some interesting tidbits in it.

Not a read, but a listen: Public Enemy recently dropped a surprise new album! THIS IS NOT A DRILL!!! For real, tho…rap, hip-hop, and punk are keeping me sane during these times.
