Right. I guess this is the part where I describe myself in a few pithy paragraphs. Now, where to start?
Well, a lot of it you've likely figured out simply from reading the blog and checking out the links. I am the very proud "mom" of two feline furkids, Simon and Billie. I don't know what I would do without them, and thank them both every day for adopting me.
Besides the "cat mom" thing, I'm also (in no particular order) a photographer, a painter (my la-dee-dah Artist Statement is forthcoming, honest!), a writer, and a college student (so college is on hold right now, since the Day Job doesn't leave me much time/energy to attend class). As I type, I am putting together a freelance photography business (hence the need for the la-dee-dah Artist Statement).
I have no "home" town, just a collection of places that I once lived (we moved around a lot when I was a kid). I was born in Portland, Oregon. It rains a lot in Portland, Oregon, but they have a great music scene and Powell's Books. (Also good coffee.) I have relatives in Oregon, but as for my immediate family, well, I was the only one to make it out of the 1990's alive.
Here's one of my to-do lists. But I'm thinking of taking the one about dating off the list. Right now, I'd prefer to be dragged behind a truck driving down a gravel road at 80mph. Much less painful than being in love. Let's just say that I do much better OUT of relationships than I do in them.
The two most difficult years of my life were 1991 and 2005. I thank my stars that I've had one true friend who stood by me both years, no matter how tough the going got or how whiny I might have been. She listened to it all and for that I am eternally grateful.
I am an Aries. That should explain all the red on my Web site. It also explains my tendency to throw Donald Duck-like tantrums.
I am spiritual, but not religious.
I have a tattoo. I may get another. Or I may not.
My musical tastes are rather eclectic, and my iTunes library barely scratches the surface. In 2005, I made it a point to go out and see more live music and will try to carry on with it (even though my friends seem to disappear whenever I want someone to go out with).
I am an avid reader.
I grew up in a sports-loving household. My favorite sports are hockey (ice) and football (as in soccer), though I do occasionally watch the American variety of football and catch the odd baseball game. I cannot watch basketball anymore, at least not what they fob off in the US as basketball. If they decide to actually play REAL basketball and not this "Showtime" crap, call me. My current favorite sports teams are, Boston Bruins, Manchester United, the US National soccer team, and the 1980 US Olympic Hockey team.
My favorite meal is chicken tikka masala with basmati rice. I would eat it every day, if I could. You might persuade me to share some of the rice; I generally will NOT share my chicken tikka masala (you'll be lucky if I don't embarrass you in the restaurant by licking the container and my plate clean). If I do volunteer to share a portion of my chicken tikka masala with you, you should know that it means you are extraordinarily special to me. EDIT: I have acutally voluntarily shared chicken tikka masala with a couple of friends and my head didn't explode! There may be hope for me yet!
