I was reading the story of Lewis the Cat to Simon and Billie last evening. Her ears perked right up when I got to this part:
"Animal Control Officer Rachel Solveira placed a restraining order on him. It was the first time such an action was taken against a cat in Fairfield."
I'm expecting Simon to be served any day now.

Buck Owens died today at age 76.
Though I've always leaned more to the rock end of the music spectrum, I have a soft spot for Buck Owens, thanks to my grandpa being a big fan of his. Some of my warmest childhood memories involve being curled up next to grandpa and watching "Hee Haw", laughing our asses off the skits and jokes (no matter how big of a "groaner" they were), and hearing grandpa hum along with the songs.
Rest now, Buck. And thank you for the great music and the smiles.

I am no longer 40.
That's pretty much all I have to say on the subject.

His tummy's warm...

According to my Zen Master, it is most auspicious to find a surface on which to warm one's belly while one snoozes.
And if one's Human is forced to contemplate one's ass while one's belly is being auspiciously warmed, then so be it.
Namaste.

I learned that today (at 1:59) was "pi day". One of the actuarial consultants I work with had a particular gleam in his eye as he was telling me this while I made my oatmeal this morning. So next year, if you're wanting to charm your math major friends, wish them a Happy Pi Day!

Which is it? Do I put my three dollars in all at once, or one at a time? Please make up your collective mind soon, because I'm sick and fucking tired of being chastised by your drivers for not paying "correctly" every time I get on a damn bus!
Sincerely,
Victoria

The next time you feel compelled to extend yourself in friendship to someone, best to be sure they're someone that really WANTS your friendship. Otherwise, they think you're just being creepy and pathetic.
Along that same line, stop mistaking FRIENDLY for friendship. Again, when you do that you come across as creepy, pathetic--and delusional.
That is all.

Contemplation (my cat is my Zen Master)
Originally uploaded by Planet Vicster.
Simon will sit on the bed for HOURS watching the leaves flutter down from the big Chinese Elm in the back yard. How committed is he to his "leaf meditation"? When he hears them calling to him in the breeze, he'll leave behind his food dish or ignore a newly-emptied Science Diet bag (his love of Science Diet Bag Residue is legendary). Considering how eating is such a religious experience to Simon, it was truly shocking to see him walk away from kibble to go watch the leaves fall.
Between that and observing his other meditation method (he'll lay down with his head up, eyes closed--but not sleeping--and a contented smile on his face), he really is becoming my guru.
